About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for its large life business segment. The CFO will be the senior finance leader, serving as the primary financial partner to the business president and leadership team. This role is pivotal in owning the financial performance, outlook, and strategic direction of the business, and is not limited to traditional controllership or reporting functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of activities, including leading all financial planning, owning earnings analysis, monitoring profitability, and partnering with various teams to evaluate product economics and growth initiatives. The CFO will also be involved in supporting and assessing reinsurance structures, overseeing management reporting, and participating in strategic initiatives such as new products and potential acquisitions.
Applicants for the CFO position should have 10 to 15 years' of progressive experience in life insurance finance or accounting, with a strong understanding of life insurance product economics, block profitability, and capital management. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record of partnering directly with business leadership, fluency in GAAP, statutory, and related accounting frameworks, and hands-on experience in forecasting, budgeting, and earnings analysis. Experience with reinsurance structures and transactions, as well as a background in a large, matrixed organization, is preferred. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to lead and develop a high-performing finance team, and a talent for translating complex financial and actuarial topics into clear business insights.
