About Cliffwood Colony

 

Cliffwood Colony is a private woodland retreat set on over 50 acres just outside Ligonier, PA. The

property includes multiple guest cabins, a large farmhouse, ponds, trails, and shared outdoor

amenities. Guests are families and small groups seeking nature, quiet, and a well-maintained

place to stay.

We are seeking a responsible, self-sufficient caretaker couple to live on-site and take ownership of

day-to-day operations, including cleaning, maintenance, groundskeeping, and general property

oversight.

 

Position Overview

As the on-site caretaker couple, you will jointly manage the cleanliness, functionality, and

appearance of the property. The role combines short-term rental turnovers, preventive

maintenance, grounds care, and light facilities management.

The workload averages approximately 40 hours per week combined, with seasonal flexibility. Peak

turnover days require coordination and parallel work; shoulder and winter seasons allow time for

projects and deeper property care.

 

Cleaning & Guest Readiness

• Perform STR turnovers for cabins, apartment, and farmhouse

• Typical clean times: Cabins (~2 hours), Farmhouse (~4 hours)

• Light vs standard cleans depending on guest usage

• Laundry coordination and linen management

• Inventory management of linens, toiletries, and supplies

• Pre-arrival inspections and quality control

 

Groundskeeping & Property Care

• Routine landscaping, mowing, trimming, and leaf removal

• Snow removal for paths, entrances, and parking areas

• Trail, firepit, pond, and outdoor amenity upkeep

• Seasonal opening and closing of cabins

• Firewood prep and outdoor maintenance

Maintenance & Facilities Oversight

• Minor repairs including carpentry, painting, plumbing fixes, and basic electrical work

• Preventive maintenance to protect buildings, equipment, and utilities

• Identifying issues early and coordinating vendors when licensed trades are required

• Supporting seasonal and long-term improvement projects

 

Optional Homesteading & Land Use

For couples interested in a more hands-on rural lifestyle, there may be opportunities to maintain or

expand gardens, care for small livestock, or participate in sustainable land-use projects.

Participation is optional and based on interest.

 

Ideal Caretaker Couple

• Experience with cleaning, maintenance, caretaking, or property management

• Mechanically inclined with practical handyman skills

• Comfortable with physical work and rural living

• Organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed

• Able to divide tasks efficiently and work independently as a team

·      Ability to lift 50lbs or more
